Papa John's: Key Points from  3Q19

  • 3Q19 comps increased +1%, this represented its 1st positive y/y comp growth in 8 quarters.
  • Recent intro of its new garlic Parmesan crust pizza reflects the 1st time in the company's history that the brand has innovated around its fresh original dough (which represents the foundation of the Papa John’s brand). This product launch was supported by an innovative marketing campaign that uses cutting edge photography to bring the quality of its crispy crust to life.
  • New CEO Rob Lynch (previously president of Arby’s) has implemented a management overhaul. His focus includes: building an innovation culture from the bottom-up in order to generate breakthrough ideas; using training & incentives (like a new tuition reimbursement plan) to deliver the best service in the industry; and improving restaurant productivity.
